Frequently asked
questions

You've got questions. We've got answers.

  • What airport do I fly into?
    Dublin Airport
  • Best way to book flights?
We recommend using either flights.google.com and skyscanner.com to search for flights. It's always good to compare and see which site will give you the best deal. Another pro tip is turning on incognito mode on your Chrome browser . The site can't track your browser cookies and increase the price if you come back another day to book.
  • How do I get from the airport to the city center?
Taxi- Taxi's are available at Dublin airport and might be a slightly cheaper option than a rideshare app. Just follow the signs for the taxi rank at the arrivals area of the terminal. Taxis typically cost between €25 to €40 depending on the time of day. Uber- Uber is available in Dublin so if you already have the app you're good to go! Free Now- Dublin also has it's own ride service app called FreeNow that has a vast network of taxis to choose from as well. It would be best to download the app prior to landing so you have it ready to go. Note- The Rideshare pick up area is further down than the taxi area in the Zone 18 parking lot. To find the Zone 18 parking lot, you can: Exit at the right of the Travelx currency exchange in the arrivals area Continue straight ahead towards the car park Follow the signs for "Ride hail app pick up" Pass three zebra crossings Reach the green area labeled "Level 1 - Mini cab / Private hire Pick up area" Note- The number shown in the FreeNow & Uber apps is not the license plate number but the number on top of the car.
  • Can I take a bus from the airport?
    1. Aircoach (Route 700): Service: 24/7 service. Route: Runs between Dublin Airport and Dublin city center, stopping at key locations like O'Connell Street, Grafton Street, and St. Stephen's Green. Travel Time: About 25-30 minutes, depending on traffic. Cost: Approx. €7 for a single ticket, or €12 for a return. 2. Dublin Bus (Routes 16 and 41): Service: Regular city bus service with more frequent stops. Route 16: Travels from the airport to the city center, stopping at O'Connell Street. Route 41: Similar to Route 16, it runs to O'Connell Street and other central stops. Travel Time: 35-45 minutes, depending on traffic and the number of stops. Cost: Approx. €3.30 for a single ticket (you’ll need exact change in coins or a Leap card). 3. Airlink Express (Route 747): Service: Dedicated airport-city express service. Route: Direct connection from the airport to major locations like Busáras (central bus station), Connolly Station, and Heuston Station. Travel Time: About 30 minutes. Cost: Approx. €7 one-way, or €12 return. Aircoach and Airlink 747 are the fastest options, while Dublin Bus routes 16 and 41 are the most budget-friendly.
  • Do I need to rent a car?
We don't recommend you rent a car if you are planning to stay in the city center. Dublin is an extremely walkable city, with most things to do being a under a 20 minute walk from anywhere else. If you plan on leaving Dublin, a car could be useful, but within the city, it's really not necessary. Please note that cars and roads are situated from left side driving! So there can be a steep learning curve if you're not used to it. On that note PLEASE LOOK BOTH WAYS while crossing streets on foot. We are used to looking left but the cars will be coming from the opposite direction. Keep your head on a swivel folks! Uber and FreeNow is available as rideshare service options that can get you anywhere you want to go.
  • Will there be a shuttle bus to take me to and from the Dublin city to the wedding venue?
Yes, we plan to arrange a shuttle bus for guests who are not staying at the wedding venue. The shuttle will pick you up from a TBD central location in the city and take you to Cliff at Lyons. After the festivities, the shuttle will bring you back to the same location in the city. We are working on booking this and will have more information closer to the date so please check back in! Please note that the shuttle may not be able to pick up from every hotel, so we will set up a pre-determined pick up location.
  • What's the currency?
Euros! Ireland is part of the European Union. Northern Ireland is a separate country and part of the United Kingdom.
  • Can I withdraw money from an ATM abroad?
Most, if not all places take debit or credit cards but if you need cash any US debit cards with a Visa or MasterCard logo will work in any European ATM. The machine will ask you if you want to use the bank's exchange rate or your card's exchange rate. You should choose your cards exchange rate because typically it will be a lower fee.
  • Is Dublin safe?
Dublin is not inherently more dangerous than any major city, but, like other cities, be smart and careful about important documents and valuables like your passport and wallet. This is good advice for those travelling on to other countries and cities as well. Don't put your phone/wallet in your pocket where it's easy to grab and try to use a bag that doesn't have pockets on the outside.
